I suggest that before you take the steps to get a MLS from any school
that you try volunteering in a library, or maybe get a part time job in
one, so you know what really goes on, then you'll know if it is for you
after all. A Masters is not required to work in a library, and many
libraries are now usin% library assistants on the reference desk, so you
could get a taste of the work. (and be prepared for 90% of the questions
to be more like the post about House the librarian--"I don't know the
title but it was about a dog", or "the copier is jammed" or "where is
the bathroom", or even more so--"sign me up for the internet". (about 1
