We withdrew our feature film VHS tapes over the period of about three
months. We have retained our foreign and some of the non-fiction. It was
a little shocking for the patrons, but they have recovered nicely, and
really appreciate the selection of DVDs we have. We also needed the space
for more DVDs and Books on CD. We have just begun this process in Youth
Services, but it will take a longer period of time. Some titles just
aren't available in DVD yet!

On the same subject, the books on cassette are gradually disappearing and
being replaced on CD. We have the advantage of being part of a
consortium, so we do fill many of our holds with materials from other
libraries. In the meantime, we encourage the use of DVD and CD players!

Subject: [Publib] Selling VHS?

We have made the decision to withdraw our VHS and sell them for a dollar so
patron can buy their favorites. Now I am getting a little nervous about
have them on the shelf one day and gone the next. Has anyone withdrawn
their VHS - we really need the space for other material. Any help is
appreciated!
