Our Library district still orders a few copies of VHS for new titles that come in. Of course we order significantly more DVD copies, but the VHS copies still circulate. I get the feeling that we will continue ordering them until they stop being checked out. Also, the Kid's movies are mostly VHS, because the DVDs don't seem to survive long when the kids get ahold of them.

Since VHS are much more durable than CD's and many patrons still use them, I think there is a case to be made for keeping them indefinitely. Just because CD's are a newer technology, it doesn't necessarily follow that they are "better." I'm looking forward to hearing others' thoughts on this.
