[Publib] Barcode labels

I am wondering if any of you in smaller systems make your own barcode labels.  If you do I would really like to here what works for you.

What software do you use?
What kind of printer?
Any recommendations for blank labels?
Is it difficult to start?
I am not sure if I care whether or not it is cost effective, though knowing that would be good.  I am more interested in whether or not the convenience out weighs cost (if more expensive).
Have you ever had problems with reading the barcodes?
Are they durable?

Just thought I would ask.
