[Publib] Digital Signatures

Hello publib,

I am looking for information about libraries that do not require an actual signature on paper to get a library card. I have found that a person can legally sign a contract using "E-SIGN" or digital signatures. I am interested in the digital signature where the patron would accept the contract by clicking on a box on our online library card application. I have searched the publib archives, but I only find references to electronic signatures where the person signs on an electronic pad, or where the application is scanned in and saved electronically. We already complete the library card application online, and now some staff are interested in eliminating the extra step of signing the signature card.

So, are any other libraries already doing this? If so, could you please contact me? I would appreciate any and all help with this research.

Thank you,
