The POSITION

Under direction, plans, organizes and directs the Children's Services division. Assignments at this level have significant Library-wide and community-wide impact and require significant subject matter expertise. Plans, assigns, and/or supervises the work of others in the division. The Children's Librarian provides programs, reader and homework assistance as well as other services to children, parents and teachers. The Murrieta Public Library's goal is to foster the love of reading and lifelong learning in children.

 

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City is seeking an individual with the following professional capabilities:

 

Develop and implement Library services, materials and programs suited to the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of the children, parents and teachers of the community served.

Evaluate library services and operations to determine need for improvements; conduct special studies and needs analyses. 

Plan, organize, direct, review and evaluate the work of professional and technical support staff assigned to the division.

According to the Collection Development Policy, select and maintain the materials and resources collection of the Children's division.

Conduct studies and make recommendations for improved service delivery of the Children's division.

Act as a liaison between the Library administration and the community.

Develop annual budget requirements, recommending requests for allocation of funds including equipment, collections and staff

Monitor expenditures for the division. 

Develop and coordinate outreach efforts and community collaboratives.

Recommend and implement new policies and procedures: interpret policies and procedures to staff and patrons.
