The PLA Results service responses have been a core element of the PLA
planning process for a decade. However, there have been significant changes
in the way people use libraries in the past 10 years and the service
responses have become increasingly dated. New service responses will be
identified over the next six months. The process will be managed by Sandra
Nelson (sandra-nelson at comcast.net ) and June Garcia
(jgarcia at dubberlygarcia.com ), the editor and associate editor of the
Results series.

Three meetings were held during the 2006 ALA Annual Conference in New
Orleans to discuss the current service responses and possible new service
responses. The comments from the participants in those meetings are
summarized below. Everyone is encouraged to join in the discussion on the
PLA Blog www.plablog.org of what the new service responses should include.

The discussion of the current service responses on the blog will continue
until October 13, 2006. At that time, the service responses will be revised
to reflect your input. Drafts of the proposed new service responses will be
available on the blog on December 1, 2006. Final drafts of the service
responses will be posted to the blog by January 4, 2007, and a meeting will
be held at ALA Midwinter to discuss the proposed drafts. More information
about the process can be found at http://www.plaresults.org
