The author of this piece missed the use of RFID on library
materials, surprisingly.

Government or business always has a perfectly reasonable
explanation for intrusion, but when do their methods cross
a line?  Would you find government surveillance of your
garbage spooky and unsettling, even if you were told it
was merely being done to better manage the flow of
materials going into landfills?

We want to use RFID tags to better manage the handling
of library materials.  But with any technology the most
pertinent questions may be What are the unintended
consequences of its use?  and How may it be abused?
