[Publib] Carpet

I had carpet squares in my previous building. The squares were not wide enough to place two or three on the floor between stacks. Consequently about a third of the squares were "permanently" under the stacks and really couldn't be moved unless you could lift the stack. Those squares that were not changed for a long time became rather permanently fixed to the floor and were not easily lifted to be replaced when soiled. In a few areas removing the squares, or just lifting the squares, became a fun thing to do. The squares were directional as far as the nap or pile; so visually you couldn't just plop one down. And at one point my governing agency determined we had enough "left over" to recarpet another area being renovated, so I "lost" my replacement squares.

In our present building lovely carpet was placed down with insufficient glue and it formed "waves" in more trafficked areas. The carpet was not so much worn out as dangerous. When the carpet was replaced it was glued so sufficiently that I hope to NOT be here when they have to scrap it up to replace it. But the extra glue has made quite a difference in safety and in contributing to a long lasting carpet.

I would glue it down more than a typical industrial installation. We don't just have heavy traffic areas. I suspect many installers have no idea what rolling carts full of books can do to glued down carpet.
