I first heard Leigh Anne Jasheway at the Oregon Library Association Conference a couple of years ago. I was so impressed. I told people about her and she was invited to our last staff developement day. She ended the day with a 2 hour presentation that left everyone inspired and laughing. To find out more about her check out her website at www.pinksunrise.com. I don't think you'll be sorry if you get her to your staff developement day.
I am a new librarian tasked with staff development and training. I
really want my first staff development day to be a fun and motivating
time for our staff. We are the only library in a fast-growing area that
was once a small southern town. We are still in the south,
geographically, but our local culture is now much more diverse and our
population has skyrocketed! The staff copes with change at a terrific
pace and is usually feeling pretty stretched. Has anyone out there had
experience locating positive, enjoyable motivating speakers? Perhaps on
stress management? Perhaps with a public/customer service slant? I
would welcome any suggestions! I would like for them to leave the day
feeling like they've been to a spa:) ... pampered and appreciated. (Our
budget, however does not allow for us to all go for massages.)
