Nellie, we buy our Playaways from BWI (http://www.bwibooks.com).  They have been a big hit.  Patrons who don't like carrying around a CD player but are not quite ready for downloads like them very much.  And after a few months of circulation, we've yet to have one break down or fall apart.

The only complaints have been from circulation staff who find the locking cases hard to open.  You can buy nonlocking cases, but we thought that the Playaways were too tempting a target for theft.

I choose the Playaways that we buy, and some months the new releases are not very impressive.  However, the selection appears to be improving.
