[Publib] Audio Book Quality

We are pondering starting a standing order with BBC Audiobooks America.
However it has come to our attention that a lot of recent Audio Books we
are seeking replacement discs for come from BBC Audiobooks America. One
theory has been floated regarding why this is so by our audio book
selectors; BBC uses shoddy materials - this opinion stems from the use
of CDs that have a blue tint to them that one person holding this
opinion denotes "cheap" materials. I have had a lot of trouble finding
any information regarding the physical quality of different audio book
publishers or any information regarding expected audio book use in
general (by this I mean questions like, what is the average length of
productive use of a Book-on-CD? What is the average number of
circulations for a book-on-CD before it physically fails?).

Has anyone else found this problem with BBC Auidobook America
Books-on-CD? Or has anyone found any articles or information regarding
books-on-CD and circulation life?

Thanks for any information.
