I'm not familiar with this one.
Can anyone on PubLib come up with the author/title?

Thanks,

"Since you are the resident librarian, I'm turning to you to
help me find this book. I read it many many several years ago. It was a
cold war era spy novel and the protagonist/narrator was a Soviet mole in
deep cover in New York. He came to love the Brooklyn Dodgers because who
could possibly love the New York Yankees? and would meet his contacts at
the ball games, sitting up in the bleachers. He refers to Pee Wee Reese
as "the immortal Pee Wee Reese" in every single instance. Many years
later he is reassigned to NYC, meets a cab driver who played for the
Dodgers back in the day, discovers that his hatred of the American way
has diminished greatly over the course of time, defects in his heart, is
dragged back to the SU and killed in a gulag, dreaming about those sunny
days in the bleachers of Brooklyn. Actually, it was a very dark and
depressing novel. I remember nothing about it other than the plot. But
it always has a place in my heart because of the "immortal Pee Wee
Reese" conceit"
