Dear Librarians,
3-TIME IDITAROD DOG MUSHER, AWARD-WINNING SCHOOL
SPEAKER AND OUTDOOR COLUMNIST, AND CHILDREN'S BOOK
AUTHOR AVAILABLE TO DO PRESENTATIONS IN YOUR SCHOOL OR
LIBRARY!
This last spring, Borage (my sled dog) and I spent two
months on the road and did over 80 Iditarod talks in
Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, South
Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. We had a great time
making new friends and seeing new places. THANK YOU to
all who welcomed us into your communities, schools,
libraries, and homes. It was a special trip.
I am currently booking talks for this winter all the
way through next summer. There is a good chance I will
be in your area in 2007 so please let me know ASAP if
youre interested.
To learn more about my mushing experiences, writing,
sled dogs, and of course, my presentations, go to my
website at www.mymusher.com. You can also email me at
mymusher at yahoo.com with specific questions.
UPDATE: Last month, I attended the Society of
Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI)
Conference in LA. I went to learn more about
publishing my first childrens book for middle grade
readers. I also went to compete in the SCBWidol
Competition for people who do school presentations. I
had three minutes to show my stuff (see my column on
the SCHOOL TALKS page of my website to hear the
whole story). Five school presenters were selected out
of the first round of competition and 50-some speakers
to go onto the final round. I was so close to winning;
I came in second place in the entire competition! I
wasnt allowed to have my sled dog, Borage, with me
so, if he would have been there, we would have won the
show - Borage always does! It was fun though and a
neat opportunity to meet other professional speakers
from around the world.
Borage and I would love to come to your town. Check
out my website at www.mymusher.com for details and
email me at mymusher at yahoo.com with questions. We look
forward to another fun year!
Thanks,
Karen Land
