[Publib] Book buying policy

I select for my library's collections in the 400s, the 800s (DDC), reference
and music CDs. I rely very heavily on patron requests (coupled with
professional reviews) in selecting materials for my library. There seems
little point in adding materials to our collections if our patrons won't use
them, and patron requests are a great way of knowing what our patrons want
to check out.

Subject: [Publib] Book buying policy

all of this talk about the OJ simspon book has me wondering what other
libraries' policy on buying books that patrons request.

i would appreciate any feedback on how your library decides which books to
buy that a patron requests, how much money is allocated for this type of
funding, and the general policy regarding this service.
