At Thanksgiving time, we remember "the Pilgrims" who arrived in Massachusetts on the "Mayflower." Primary sources they left behind tell their story as highlighted in this web site. http://www.awesomestories.com/history/pilgrims_america/pilgrims_america_ch1.htm Before they left the ship, forty-one men agreed to the "Mayflower Compact," an early document of American democracy. Does the original still exist? Who were these people? Where had they lived before sailing to "the new world?" What did their homes look like? Why did they leave Europe? What does their ship's log tell us about their transatlantic journey? Were there really "perilous" storms with a "man overboard" episode? What ultimately happened to the "Mayflower?"
