[Publib] microfilm

We have a microfilm scanner/printer/reader from S-T imaging [
www.stimaging.com ].

So far we just have it for staff use -- plan to buy another & roll out
for the public next year.
Software is still a bit buggy--but they're working on it.

This machine allows easy [relatively] scanning of film images--we use it
for remote users who need copies of articles from the local paper. It
also makes reading the film better as the image can be enlarged as much
as the user wants. Software also allows for sharpening image, changing
contrast, inverting negative images to positive, etc.

I have a brochure from another company, Image Data [ www.e-imagedata.com
] whose product may be worth investigating.

We're still getting our local newspaper microfilmed, and have a viewer
with
a printer built in, but I'm wondering about other options. Are scanners
connected to a computer the way to go, or are there other formats
available?
