In my ongoing efforts to track automation trends in public
libraries, I would like to request that the readers of this list
review and update the entries for their libraries in lib-web-cats:
  http://www.librarytechnology.org/libwebcats

I maintain lib-web-cats as an online directory of libraries for the
general public and as a resource for tracking the use of automation
software.

lib-web-cats serves the general public as an online directory that
helps to locate libraries throughout the world. It currently
includes over 26,000 listings.

Behind-the-scenes, lib-web-cats provides information to those
interested in the technologies used in libraries. The data in
lib-web-cats supports my own research interests, but is also
available to all others. The Advanced Search page provides the
ability to generate queries based on current and previous
automation systems and implementation dates.

Given the large amount of money that public libraries spend on
acquiring and maintaining automation systems, I believe that it is
important to have a resource that reflects the results of these
expenditures.

Through data from NCES and other sources, there should be a basic
listing already present for each public library facility in the
U.S., but many entries lack detailed information on the current and
previous library automation systems used. Public libraries outside
the U.S. are less comprehensively represented.

So, please take a moment to check lib-web-cats to see if your
library is listed, click in the "details" page. If there is
missing or incorrect information, use the "Update this Entry"
button to edit the listing. Drop me an e-mail if you have any
questions or difficulties in updating an entry.

lib-web-cats is a non-profit volunteer effort without advertising
or commercial support.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
