Be careful! There is an inside measurement and outside. Outside folks
in small cars and vans need to be able to reach the chute. In side you
want the opening high enough for a book bin (like Highsmith's
http://www.highsmith.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Production/Search.jsp
?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&N=0&Ntk=HsSearch1&Nty=1&Ntx=mod
e%2Bmatchallpartial&D=&Nu=CategoryId&chkForFilter=N&s=1&Ntt=book+carts )
to fit under the inside opening. Lots of library's use bank depository
chutes, but the problem is they have a slide on the inside, which sounds
nice because the book won't fall 90 degrees to the floor. The problem
with the chute is that it delivers the material so close to the floor
that you can't get a book cart/bin under it and you end up picking up
each item.
I like the outside bank depository or Kingsley
(http://www.kle.com/building_mounted_overview.htm ) mounted
depositories, but just be careful of the inside chute measurement.
