Hi, 
  We use the Playaways and they have been successful so far!  We don't provide the earbuds at checkout but note that patrons should use their personal ones.  We also have some earbuds for sale in the library should the patron wish to purchase them there.  Whenever a Playaway is checked in and goes through our back room on its way to shelving, we toss the batteries that are in it, replace them with new and put in an extra in the case if the particular one requires it.  This pleases our patrons and isn't too taxing on the staff.  We just recently began a standing order with these and think that they will continue to be popular with our patrons.
