[Publib] connecting readers to readers

Has anyone come up with a good way to connect readers to like-minded other
readers?  If, for example, you know a kid who is really into some series of
books, how can we help that person find other kids who also like those books
without destroying anyone's confidentiality?  Offering a library program for
fans of Series X takes a lot of staff time and has a fairly low chance for
success, unless Series X is Harry Potter-ish.  Does anyone out there act as
a facilitator for reader-to-reader connections?  Thanks for some communal
