[Publib] Call for Essays

Please pardon the cross-posting.
Missing books? Long-overdue DVDs? What does your
library do about the ever-growing issue of materials
that are never returned? Some public libraries are
turning to collection agencies to go after deadbeat
patrons. What are your thoughts on the use of
collection agencies by public libraries? Are they
worth the cost and possible bad publicity associated
with their use?
The Perspectives column in PUBLIC LIBRARIES for the
November/December issue will focus on this important
debate. If your library uses a collection agency, or
even if it doesn't, but you have strong feelings on
the topic, why not contribute to the column?
The Perspectives column generally publishes 4-5
essays, approximately 1,000 words in length on
opposing viewpoints on a particular topic. Essayists
are not paid, but do receive two free copies of the
issue in which their article appears.
