Rather than having specific staff assigned to computer instruction/support,
we offer individualized computer tutoring sessions conducted by reference
staff. We've been offering these sessions for a little over a year and they
have been fairly popular. We offer basic instruction in the various
Microsoft Office Suite programs, since those are installed on our library
computers. Additonally we offer "Getting to know the Computer," "Mousing
Around," and "Introduction to the Internet/Email." We ask folks if they have
a particular question in mind, if they need help setting up an email
account, need help formatting a resume, etc., to tailor the session to their
particular need if possible.

We count questions we answer each month, and offering the computer tutoring
sessions gives us a better way to account for the time we spend helping
folks with more lengthy computer issues.
