Don't have one except as it applies to all employees (our pages work
about 18 hours), but I'd suggest (1) requiring notice in advance of
posted schedules, unless there's a permanent schedule (in which case a
specific length of time, say 4 weeks in advance) and (2) if schedule is
posted/permanent, that they be required to try to arrange schedule
switches amongst themselves (to be approved--on paper--by supervisor)
and (3) policy statement that not adhering to the aforementioned will be
grounds for discipline, up to and including dismissal.
As far as just wanting/needing time *off* (as opposed to rescheduled),
our policy states that absences in excess of 6 in any 12-month period
are excessive and subject to discipline. HTH

Subject: [Publib] Library Pages
Hi
We are experiencing a situation with our pages. They seem to need an
awful lot of time off even though they only work around 10 or so hours a
week. We want to develop a contract or policy they would have to sign
stating their responsibilities and a policy regarding taking time off.
If anyone has such a policy or has any suggestions, I would really like
to hear from you. Thanks as always.
