Have you ever thought of trying your hand as a book reviewer?
Consider attending the following program at the ALA Annual Conference in
New Orleans:
So You Want to Be a Reviewer? will be presented on Saturday, June 24
from 10:30 to 12:00. The program is sponsored by the RUSA CODES
Materials Reviewing Committee, and will feature a panel of book review
editors and contributors including Barbara Hoffert, Editor of Library
Journal's Book Review, and Brad Hooper, Booklist's Adult Books Editor.
Representing academic librarian reviewers is Danise Hoover of Hunter
College Library and for public libraries, Barbara Bibel of Oakland
Public Library.
Kathleen Sullivan, a former member of the Materials Reviewing Committee
will speak about the new guidelines for reviewing, which were written by
the committee and approved by the Board in 2006.

In only an hour and a half you'll hear tips on becoming a reviewer, get
an insider's look at the reviewing world, share the experiences of
public and academic librarian book reviewers, learn the basic elements
of a good review, and have a chance to meet the two most prominent book
review editors in the library world.
