In speaking a few months ago with our local health department, they noted an inherent conflict of goals relating to library service in the event of a pandemic. Locations where people gather may be viewed as a vector for the spread of the disease, and in the event of a truly horrific pandemic, the library might be *required* to close (or at least close its public meeting rooms). At the same time, it would be useful for a library to remain open so that the public access if provides to information, including Internet-based information, regarding the pandemic could remain available to the public. Interesting conflict of competing goals...
