Anytime I post to a list like this I know that it's being broadcast to
the world and used by others and I compose my comments accordingly.
Remember, the archives are out on the web for anyone to see. If you
don't want your comments passed on send a private reply.
Of course, it's still courteous to ask before using someone else's
comments.

Subject: [Publib] permission to report on postings
I already sent my permission directly to the student who asked the
question, but I am wondering if there is a policy or preference about
this? I actually visited the publib site first (and I never think to do
this), but did not see anything that pertained to reproducing our posts.
I did say in my permission email that I thought publib should be
appropriately acknowledged as the source of whatever he uses. I mainly
think this is the Internet so.... but I do recall that one of my
daughters was horrified that her mother and I read her blog from time to
time. She had no problem with the rest of the world reading it, just
her parents. Now she has a Live.Journal and "some" things are only
available to those on her friends list. Her parents are welcome to read
her journal -- but we are not included among her several gazillion
friends. So publibers, do we care if our collected wisdom and collective
silliness are reported far and wide?
