[Publib] AD - Mystery programs for adults

I've created a Web site that I hope will be of interest to some members of
PubLib. The site is still very basic for now - nothing fancy - and the
address is www.librarymysteries.com. It has information on the library
"Mystery Night" games that I've been writing since 2002. Along with a
troupe of co-workers and volunteers, I present these
programs at three library branches per year. (I work for the Fairfax County
Public Library system.) The programs are always free to the public
(although they could be used as fundraisers), and me and my troupe members
donate all of our our time - the programs take place after-hours on
weekends. My mysteries are very interactive - with a lot of improv by the
actors - and are for adults only due to some risque story content.
Over the years, several of my colleagues have sent me messages from PubLib
members asking for advice about putting together a murder mystery program.
I've always responded to these people individually, and in each case they
asked to be notified if/when my stories were available for sale. So I
wanted to be sure to spread the word here about my site. I'm not looking or
expecting to get rich from my games - I'm just really eager to see other
libraries produce my stories and (hopefully) have a great time doing it.
I'd also be happy to offer general advice and suggestions on this
topic, since I'm now a Mystery Night program veteran. I *love* writing,
planning, and producing these events, and I'm always happy to share my
experience with other librarians.
If you are interested in my mysteries, be sure to read the FAQ page. It
contains information on how my programs differ from a staged or scripted
play. They're closer in format to the popular boxed mystery games like How
to Host a Murder and Mysteries by Vincent, except that they're meant to be
performed interactively with an audience.
Thanks so much!
