[Publib] Tech services question

   Hi,
Our tech services people don't double-check each other's
work. Instead, we have a review shelf where we keep items
for a day or two after they're processed, but before they
go out on the shelves. Librarians are expected to look at
the books on these shelves, both to become familiar with
what's new in the Library and to catch any processing
mistakes (a mystery sticker left off, a book that would be
better shelved in a different area, etc.). We're not such
a big library (single outlet, about 100,000 items) that
this process is unmanageable - I'm not sure how big your
library is.
   Hope this helps,
   Allison

Good morning,
I would like to hear the practices of other public libraries' Tech
Services departments. We currently have staff edit carts of just
cataloged items to check for errors (before they are processed).
Wondering if this step can be skipped in the interest of saving
time--is
it necessary to double check other staff's work? Would like your
collective professional opinions on this before I suggest any changes
to
staff. Thanks much!
