Sorry to bring your attention to a more everyday issue, but I am wondering what is the etiquette in writing annotated library booklists.
Every summer I have the staff contribute titles and write-ups of books they have read and would like to recommend. I put together a brochure, called staff picks, and break it up into categories, genres, ets. For those books submitted without annotations, I usually ask them about the book, get some key phrases from them and then cobble together something myself from the jacket and reviews in journals and amazon and library of congress.
If I use a full description from LC or from amazon do I acknowledge that in the blurb itself or at the bottom of the flyer? I do not want to plagiarize.
