For us, employees have to have two checks: a criminal background and,
though the name escapes me, the child safety one (i.e. you arent a
registered sex offender, etc).  I think it cost me around $25.  We
dont have to redo it for promotions or job changes, etc.  It's a one
time thing.  AND volunteers are no exceptions.  Imagine explaining to
a volunteer that they have to shell out money to volunteer with us.
