Sandy, I can't give you the exact dates, but I know that there are
e-mails - on Autocat - dealing with cataloging issues associated with
galley proofs and advance reading copies to library collections. If I
remember correctly, some of the e-mails dealt with legal and ethical
issues related to accessioning these books.

One member of our consortium adds these and I cringe every time I see
them in the catalog.
I don't think it's fair to the author to catalog and add to our
collection something that isn't the version the author wants
representing his/her creation.
