I think you should also consider the library users. I would not want to
check out a book with spelling mistakes and/or missing pictures. Yes,
public libraries are under-funded, but I think it sends a very bad
message when we put these books on our shelves to save some money.

We actually got a phone call from either a publisher or an agent one
time
when an advance copy sneaked on to a branch shelf (possibly because of
the
similarity to trade paper). He/she said they're definitely not for
circulation. And I've seen copies with missing pages, blank pages, pages
falling out, as well as the standard printing errors that should get
caught
in proofreading. We put ours out for staff members.
