Carrie Haverman asked: "When library staff go to a conference or an event like PLA or BookExpo and pick up Uncorrected Proofs or Advance Reader's Copies, do you ever choose to catalog the items into your collection? I'd like to hear thoughts about this practice either way."

I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of adding these items to the collection or selling them in a library book sale. As another poster pointed out, this is not the finished product. It may contain errors, it may have different cover art, and patrons will probably not make the distinction between the finished product and an ARC. Additionally, we should not be profiting from the sale of ARCs, nor saving money (and depriving author/publisher of their profits) by not having to buy them for our collection. My opinion only, but a strongly held one obviously. I'm very interested to hear what others have to say too.
