[Publib] laptops in library

Our small library would love to have more desktops, we have 8 and they are
in constant use) as desktops are cheaper, but we have no more secure space
to set them up - We can, however, use wireless laptops anywhere in our
building - either the library or the community hall that shares our
building. So we have laptops and desktops.
We are in the process of writing policy for them and for our wireless
internet access.
We require a valid photo ID (which we hold) for use of the laptops and we
check them out (either to the patron's card or the library's card) so we can
keep track of how often they are used.
We have deep freeze loaded on them and use Cyber star to manage the time
usage.

So.. why have laptops at all, when desktops are so much cheaper? Simply add
more desktops, and peripherals such as external hard drives/usb flashdrives
can be connected just as easily to a desktop. Configuration for security,
internet access, etc. would be just as easy, and internal components for
upgrading periodically, are much more easily replaced in a desktop.
