Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions, advice, and supportive
phone calls.  It appears that it WAS the drains after all!  So much for
the expert plumber!  We had a salesman stop by today who was selling
cleaning and deodorizing products, so we decided to test him out with
our stinky bathroom.  He stated right away that it was a build-up of
uric crystals and had just the product for us.  He left a free bottle
and within one hour the smell was gone.

 

He did say that although we'd been keeping the drains wet, it wasn't
enough to prevent the build up and that pouring bleach down the drains
did nothing but kill the 'good' bacteria.  He thought that the reason it
was so prevalent in the one bathroom could be that the drain was on a
higher elevation.
