These scams take up way too much time. Even if some member of the staff
inadverdantly said yes, send it on approval, they are probably not
authorized to make a purchase.
Back in the far past when Wisconsin libraries used teletype for interlibrary
loan. Everybody with teletype numbers got a bill for being listed in the
directory. Fortunately someone showed it to me. I knew directory listings
were free so we certainly didn't need theirs. If I remember correctly, the
name made it sound like a normal phone bill. We were able to let other
libraries know about the bill so none would pay it.
I like the call my attorney approach. You may not even need to give them a
heads up.
