[Publib] Alito & ALA - my turn

I assume that we are assuming that Judge Alito is guilty until proven innocent. Beware, beware...Earl Warren surprised many, to the chagrin of them what appointed him, and Sandra Day O'Connor was an unpleasant reality on the High Court for some who expected her to be other than she was. One might consider that Judge Alito doesn't seem nearly as prickly as, say, Mr. Scalia does. I mean, at the very least one might consider that. Though prickly is not always all bad.
I hold various pronouncements of the Councilors of ALA in the same regard that I hold the pronouncements of the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, of which I am an ordained member. Ahem. My co-religionists on the list can figure that one out, whether or not they agree with me.
Indeed, I would be more impressed if ALA fought, tooth and nail, the 65% business in schools, whereby libraries and librarians are not considered part of the educational process, et al.
And, finally, if the Council would like to do something subversive that would cause me no end of pleasure, it would be to identify the automobile of the Postmaster General and put sugar in his/her gas tank, every time postage goes up. It would require constant vigilance, of course, as postmasters general change from time to time. I seriously doubt that Judge Alito will affect my library's day-to-day operations in the way that the increasing cost of postage does. Pardon my small-mindedness, but, as many aging radicals will remember (and there are lots of librarians among them)--Small is Beautiful.
TGIF, and all that. Time to remove my tongue from my cheek--at least part way--and get down to some serious work here.

When I open my eyes I must sigh, for what I see is contrary to my religion, and I must despise the world which does not know that music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy. -- Ludwig van Beethoven
