[Publib] Information Overload

I really like my desk blotter which has an engineer's pad of graph paper instead of a calendar or blank paper. (I'm neater with lines.) Anyway, I can jot things down quickly as I think of them or as I'm taking notes. I can make lists, write down phone numbers, etc. Then each month, I go through the whole sheet and cross off what I don't need anymore and file what I need to keep and start a new sheet. Right now I have a list of subject areas we're weak in and I should look for titles, the dreaded "to do" list, list of possible community donors, budget needs, and miscellaneous notes. Of course, the secret to making it work is to check it periodically. If you ignore it, it doesn't go away!

Thank you to the person I "borrowed" this idea from. You know who you are!

Because I'm hopelessly right brained and disorganized, I make lots of lists.
I have a general "to do" list as a Word document that I constantly update as
I finish projects and start new projects.

Subject: [Publib] Information Overload

Dear PubLibers,
You've always helped me in the past.....and I am grateful!

What does a young 2+ years librarian do about information and duty overload?
I've been given so many tasks by my library and by the state library, that
I'm going crazy. The harder I work, the further I get behind. I don't want
to complain because I love me job, but I can't seem to keep organized and
efficient with all my assignments. Does anyone have any tips, tricks,
software, wisdom, or organizational advice on how to keep my head above
water and still impress my higher ups? Or should I just go directly to my
local therapist?

Thank you in advance,
