Chantal in Plano asked some questions.

Santa Fe Public Library has a blog.

>Is there one person or several who update it?

One person updates it. Occasionally other staff suggest posts, but it is
that one person's project.

>Do you ever have a problem with belligerent posts?

We have not enabled comments. Right now it is possible to ignore the blog
on days when there just isn't time to get to it. If there were comments
coming in we might? would? have to check regularly, to respond or clean up.

The blog is a tyrant already. We try to feed it new content six days out of
seven, often investing personal time to keep that schedule. We're not
entirely comfortable with not allowing comments, the opportunity for
interaction is implicit in the blog world. But for now it has to be that
way or the principle blogger would be spending even more of her own time
looking after the blog.

>Does the blog take the place of the library's newsletter?

We've not had a newsletter that I can remember, so yes, we are very pleased
that the blog can serve that function. I don't imagine that too many of our
local users are subscribed by RSS feed; but the blog is our third or fourth
most frequently accessed web page--we know people are seeing it.

Thanks by the way to all the other Public Library bloggers. You are a
reliable source of inspiration for things to post about, and occasionally
for more general posts about what library bloggers are up to. When stuck
for a topic, we cruise the library blogs!
