I know one small town that sends a letter to long overdue patrons that the chief of police will be by at a date a week from the letter generation to pick up the "missing city property".  They had a phenominal return rate!

SHEESH.  I think we should remind the public that it's THEIR tax dollars that support the library, and by keeping library materials beyond their due dates they deprive other taxpayers of the use of their property.
