A co-worker is looking for a series of books that they read as a child in the early to mid 70's.  

They believe that the series was a chapter book about a brother and sister who meet a neighbor who is a professor who is designing a spaceship.  The brother and sister eventually fly in the spaceship and visit faraway planets, meet aliens and have other adventures.

My co-worker has been looking for this series for a long time as she enjoyed them as a child and would like to read them again.
