[Publib] Holidays 06/07

Hi Nann,
Our holiday policy is posted on our website:

http://www.mrrl.org/admin/sections.php?pid=Personnel%20Policies&sec=15

It covers most situations fairly well. In 2006, staff will get a
floating holiday in December for Christmas Eve (a paid holiday for us),
since it falls on a Sunday when most are not scheduled to work. We'll
be closed Christmas Day, and back to work on the 26th. Since New Year's
Eve is NOT a paid holiday for us, and is on a Sunday (we are open from
1-5), I will ask the Board to allow us to be closed as an unpaid day.
Those who would otherwise be scheduled to work on New Year's Eve can
either work those hours during the preceding week instead, or take paid
time off if they need the hours.

I hope this is clear enough. It seems that no matter how you write a
policy, there are always questions!

December 25, 2006, and January 1, 2007, will be on Monday.

My question to those libraries that observe holiday time on
December 24 and December 31 as well
and ESPECIALLY to those libraries that are not open on Sunday
anyway: how do you schedule
	those holidays?
