Tom:
You might want to consider having the old book drop fixed or repaired
and kept in reserve. We had some old, grubby book drops in our basement
for years and they proved invaluable (since they were still workable)
during various construction projects where access points to the Library
had to be closed off and the need presented itself for more drop box
points nearer to public parking areas. I have found that one thing the
public demands is a way to return books and AV materials when the
Library is closed. If you don't have outside drop options, the public
will complain loud and clear.

Subject: [Publib] Disposal of Old Book Drops
One of our three outdoor book drops recently went belly up. We're doing
fine with the remaining two. The quandary is how do get rid of the old
one? Has anyone ever disposed of an old book drop? Who, or what sort of
business deals with this sort of thing? It has to be removed from its
concrete pad and hauled away. Any ideas?
