Viccy,
My advice would be to do the least amount of processing (work) necessary. Do
you have so many titles and so many copies of titles that you can't possibly
identify a book in hand without the barcode written or stuck in a second
location? If that's the case, then do so.
Our library is small enough that we can figure out which copy we have in
hand, so I wouldn't waste the time on the extra work.

Dear listmates,
I have been charged with collecting information from other libraries
regarding barcodes. Do you handwrite the barcode number into a book on a
specified page and/or do you place a duplicate barcode somewhere specific in
the book in order to identify the book in case the cover barcode goes
missing?
I know at one time this was a standard practice, but I am under the
impression it is not as widely done anymore due to time and labor
constraints. Am I wrong?
TIA!
