Dear listmates,

I have been charged with collecting information from other libraries
regarding barcodes. Do you handwrite the barcode number into a book on a
specified page and/or do you place a duplicate barcode somewhere
specific in the book in order to identify the book in case the cover
barcode goes missing?

I know at one time this was a standard practice, but I am under the
impression it is not as widely done anymore due to time and labor
constraints. Am I wrong?
