[Publib] male employees in the youth room

Today I had a patron go on at length to me expressing surprise that we would
employee a male in our youth dept.  (He happens to be an adult page, and was
shelving at the time.no other staff members were in there).  The patron
wanted me to tell her our page's schedule so that she could bring her
children only when he isn't working.  Frankly, I was flabbergasted.  It
didn't seem necessary to tell her his schedule, so I said it varies (which
it does).  When I mentioned this to another staff member, she said another
local town will not allow any male employees to be in the youth room when
there isn't another staff member there.  Have any of you had any experience
like this?  Comments?
