  I can't say we have this problem with kids, but we have a number of adults in here daily who look to me like they should be at work. I have considered doing the same for them. Walk around and tell them that employers patrol library daily looking for delinquent employees.

  But then, I couldn't figure a way to read this into the library's mission, so decided it was none of my business.

  School started this week and we're already seeing older kids playing hookie.  I called one of our nearby high schools asking if they could send a truancy officer over and their reply was they don't have an off-campus patrol and to call 911 on the kids.

  I'm not too keen on calling 911 for school skippers so I thought I'd ask others on how best to deal with a situation like this.  In our case, we let them know we were aware of what they were doing and told them there WAS a truancy officer who regularly patroled the libraries.
