I'll be paying close attention to the answers on this one because we'll
be doing the same thing next summer. In my previous library we closed
for 2 weeks to remodel and encouraged patrons to check out as many books
as they wanted. The mistake we made was having everything due the week
we re-opened. We were swamped with returns all at once.

Hi,

We are getting ready to move to a new library. We will be closed for
about a month in October. We are wondering how to handle check out
periods prior to closing. Our materials currently check out for 3 weeks
or 1 week. Do we want patrons returning material while we are closed so
we can get items checked in and shelved before we reopen? Should we give
longer due dates so we don't have to deal with patrons returning
material while we are moving and also so patrons will have something to
read while we are closed? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
