Our Dress Code is part of our Board Approved Personnel Code:

Staff should dress in a manner with projects a positive and business-like image for the library. To that end, employees' clothing must be clean, neat and in good repair. Shoes and TCPL issued nametags must be worn at all times while on duty.
Examples of clothing considered inappropriate include:
--torn, patched/faded clothing
--shirts with slogans or large-letter advertising
--halter, tube or tank tops or muscle shirts
--tops/bottoms that reveal midriffs
--strapless sundresses
--shorts
--sweatsuits/warm-up suits; sweat pants
--blue jeans*

All staff should be aware of the library's neutral stance on issues as indicated in the TCPL Personnel Code, Section.... Therefore cause-related clothing should not be worn.

Department Heads share the authority, with the County Librarian or his/her designee, to determine the appropriateness of an article of clothing, an accessory, a hairstyle, a body decoration, or of the message it desplays. Repeated infractions of the dress code will result in disciplinary action.

* Pages and maintenance staff may wear blue jeans.

Folks,

Our county manager wants me to ask you about dress codes:

Who has them?

Are they successful (i.e. iron-clad)?

What has been challenged and subsequently changed?

Thanks.
